10 trends for 2022
Our list of some of the new design ideas and approaches we’re seeing…
1. A space of your own.
Carving out a small space in your house to retreat to and do something you enjoy is a big trend after the stress of the past two years. Whether it’s reading, crafts, puzzles or a place to simply reflect, having your own spot can help you recharge after a long day.
2. Good design scents.
Smell has a stronger link to memory and emotion than any of our other senses. Designing with scents can help create or accentuate the mood or environment of a space. Brands like AromaTech will even create a scent to reflect your brand!
3. Curve appeal.
Gently rounded, arched openings and curved furniture are making a big comeback this year. These soft undulations evoke a feminine vibe which can instantly make a room feel calm, cozy, and safe.
4. Get outside (inside).
Stay connected to the outdoors with maybe-too-many plants (is that a thing?), natural color palettes, and tone on tone texture.

5. Books smart.
If 2020 was the year of the pantry, then 2022 is the year of the home library. Whether it’s a simple nook, a whole room, or a loft space — we are definitely seeing this trend take off!
6. Find your depth.
Venetian plaster and limewashed walls add a soft layer of texture and an antique, familiar feeling.
7. Out of the box thinking.
Feeling like you need a little more room? The answer could be right outside. A luxe outdoor area might even upstage your indoor space and draw friends and family over (more often) and out.
8. Art works.
Searching out original pieces by regional artists is a great way to support local up and comers, start developing an eye for what you love, or add a few fresh faces to a mature collection. The hunt is half the the fun!

9. Past is present.
Unique, vintage decor can help personalize any space!
10. Style bureau.
We’re seeing lots of decorative cabinets in unexpected places — think home bars and powder rooms. Fluted, grooved, lacquered, and metal are très trendy. Glass cabinets with a contrasting interior color can add a little oomph.
